CHEF FOR A DAY

Become a Chef for the Day at Quantum House.

Meal times are a really big deal here at Quantum House as we have 30 families to feed daily.  Our dedicated volunteer chef’s consistently go above and beyond to delight our families.

Volunteers provide dinner each night of the year by signing up to bring a meal in advance and you can too!  Share your culinary talents by signing up to provide a meal in advance. Whether you prefer to whip up a dish on-site with your own ingredients or opt for a catered delivery, both options are welcomed.

Take a look at the calendar below for dates that are available.  Every blank slot represents an opportunity to spread joy through the gift of a delicious meal.  We can't wait to have you here at the house.

Gather your friends, family, colleagues or company to join in the heartwarming act of preparing a meal for our families.

  • Planning the Meal

Get your friends, co-workers, school groups (ages 15+), or other organization together to plan, purchase, and prepare the meal

    • Volunteer groups can be between 4-6 people
    • All volunteers must submit a volunteer application
    • Once the applications are submitted, our Outreach Coordinator will email you our guidelines regarding the program as well as available dates
    • The group leader should confirm the menu with our Outreach Coordinator as soon as possible so families do not have duplicated meals for that week
    • Our Outreach Coordinator will email you a week in advance with our current guest numbers. We generally have about 60-70 guests at Quantum House
  • Preparing the Meal

    • We encourage you to prepare most of the meal ahead of time and either drop it off or set it up in the main kitchen
    • The families also love it when meals are catered and delivered and we can do the set up for you
    • Our kitchen is well equipped with appliances and pots/pans that may be needed for you to complete the preparation of a meal
    • All serve ware is located in our buffet closet in the Kitchen Galley but you are encouraged to bring your items in disposable containers
    • Food is served buffet style so the families can help themselves
    • Volunteers are asked to keep the kitchen tidy during dinner prep as well as cleaning up the pots/pans/serveware or dishes used for the meal
    • If you would like to sponsor a Chef for the Day meal, please give us a call and we will make all of the arrangements
    • Your donations are tax deductible, and donation forms will be available
    • Most dinner meals include the following:
    • Main dish
    • Salad
    • Vegetables or fruits
    • Starch
    • Dessert (optional)
    • Beverages (optional)
  • Additional Information

    • Beverages for families are optional, but if your group is eating with us, please provide drinks for your team
    • Not all of our families can be present at meal times, but do enjoy their meal when they come home from the hospital, so don’t worry, the food will not go to waste
    • Ask before you purchase salad dressing and condiments as we may already have some
    • What else can you bring? We can never have enough paper towels, dishwashing detergent, bottled water, dish soap and hand soap
    • Some groups bring decorations or choose a theme to go with the meal. We encourage you to make it your own and shine like the bright stars you are! *Please do not bring balloons due to allergies in the House.
